a clean car interior

Accidents happen and stains are an unfortunate consequence. Luckily, you don't need to be a professional automotive detailer to conquer those troublesome stains on your vehicle's seats or carpets. Keeping your car clean is not only good hygiene but helps to maintain your investment in your vehicle. In this blog post I will show you how to remove stains like a professional automotive detailer with the right supplies and techniques.

Supplies you will need

All purpose cleaner: Use this to pre treat the stain (I like super clean and you can get it in 32 oz or 1 gal two pack *both will have to be diluted with water at a 5:1 water to super clean ratio)

Extractor: You can get a quality extractor for a good price this extractor can be used on any future stains or cleanup whether its on your cars seats or your couch its a great investment.

(optional) Steam Cleaner: the steam cleaner can help to not only sanitize but help eliminate the stain.

Microfiber Towels: Have these microfibers on hand for blotting and drying without leaving lint or scratches.

Soft Bristle Brush: Get a brush with gentle bristles to assist in agitating the stains.

Test your cleaning product

Always start by testing your chosen cleaning solution in an inconspicuous area of your car seats to ensure it won't cause any damage or discoloration.

Blot, Don't Rub

Gently blot the stain with a clean microfiber towel to absorb excess moisture. Avoid rubbing, as it may spread the stain.

Don't forget to Dilute

if you are using the recommended super clean degreaser the dilution ratio I use is 5:1 water to super clean ratio.

Apply chemical and agitate lightly

Spray the super clean on the stain and use the brush to work in the product for a couple of seconds but try not to spread the stain to other areas.

Extract the stain

Spray the vacuum extractor solution onto the stain by using the trigger while sucking up the sprayed solution. You may have to go over the stain multiple times repeating the process until the stain is gone. If the stain persists you can also go over it with the super clean and agitate then extract the stain.

Steam + Extraction (optional)

A professional automotive detailer will use steam in order to not only clean, but also sanitize. Spray the super clean solution on the stain then use the brush to agitate then blast with steam and finally use the vacuum extractor spray and suck up the stain to properly remove it. Repeat these processes until the stain is gone.

Consider using protective measures

To prevent future stains, consider using seat covers or applying a fabric or leather protectant regularly to your seats.

Cleaning stains like a professional automotive detailer is as easy as that. When you have the right supplies and processes you will be able to eliminate tough stains, keeping your car clean and protected.
